Ball-milling finds wide applications in pyrotechnics and for producing black powder. However, some pyrotechnic applications such as flash powder do not use ball-mill due to their sensitivity to impact. Particle size can be reduced to as low as 5nm in high energy mills, though they are quite expensive.
